Belen Project in Peru: Clowning, Art as a Bridge Away from Violence

This video below provides information about poor conditions in Peru and using art and clowning as a bridge away from violence. Patch Adams created the gesundheit institute which has funded this project. Patch is promoting a campaign against child abuse and violence.

i clowned with Patch in 2002 and I am impressed with his commitment to bringing love and joy. I felt his passion and saw his tears, he is desiring of a world that is loving. Of course this is our true nature but first we must heal through love to become a bridge towards a new future, one filled to the brim of hope.

What I love is to see the children smiling and from a black and white existence the colour fool arrives. What I experienced as a clown was when I was dressed normally moving through the community it felt black and white as everyone is in their everyday pattern. When I put on my clown clothes and freed myself from the pattern, suddenly for me, the world became colourful. The difference is that stark. What I see is when we move towards the joy and peace of love, we will live in that bright colour. That is the light in en-lighten-ment. The light that is brought to the darkness, is the light of love. Beautiful thought.

Here is the video on the great work of the Belen Project. Good on you Patch for your efforts to create a better world.

“Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.”
